Ibanez GRX70QA-TKS GIO — Superstrat Playability at an Entry-Mid Price

The Ibanez GRX70QA-TKS GIO is a superstrat-style electric guitar in the GIO series, built for players who want the brand's signature fast neck feel and tonal flexibility. A poplar body is topped with a quilted maple art grain (basswood) layer, finished in transparent black sunburst that lets the figured grain show through. As a flexible H-S-H electric guitar, this model covers blues, rock, and metal for beginners and intermediate players seeking versatility in one instrument.

What Sets the GRX70QA Apart in the GIO Line

Two features lift this model above typical entry-level superstrats. With the T106 tremolo bridge's six independent saddles, players gain precise per-string height and intonation adjustment, unlike cheaper stamped bridges. Preventing common output jack issues, a mono-unit output jack is crafted as a single solid piece for improved reliability.

Tonewoods That Shape the Sound

Engineered for a bright, solid response that suits high-gain playing, the body wood combination pairs a poplar core with a figured quilted maple art grain top.

• Body Material: Poplar — focused midrange that tightens humbucker tones
• Top Material: Quilted Maple Art Grain (Basswood) — adds visual depth and bright top-end character to the poplar core
• Polished to a high-gloss, the finish brings out the striking top grain for added stage appeal.

Neck Dimensions Built for Speed

Offering a slim, fast feel that suits lead playing, the GRX-profile maple neck is one of the model's defining features.

• Neck & Fretboard: Maple neck, Jatoba fretboard — bright tonal character paired with rich mids and crisp highs
• Scale & Radius: 648 mm scale, 305 mm radius — matches Ibanez RG-series standard with a flatter curve for low-action bending
• Frets: 22 medium frets, 42 mm nut width — extends reach into upper-register lead territory with comfortable spacing

Pickups and Controls for Tonal Range

Delivering five distinct voices from humbucker crunch to single-coil cleans, the H-S-H pickup configuration works with a 5-way selector.

• Pickups: HSH — Infinity R (H) neck/bridge, Infinity RS (S) middle, passive ceramic — accurate, tight response that holds clarity under heavy settings
• Controls: 1 x Volume, 1 x Tone, 5-way selector — straightforward layout for quick tone shifts
• Expressive dive-bomb effects and precise intonation adjustments are possible thanks to the T106 tremolo bridge and robust chrome hardware.

Who Should Play the GRX70QA

The GRX70QA is the right choice for beginners and intermediate players who need a flexible electric covering blues, rock, and metal without requiring multiple guitars. Its slim GRX neck and 648 mm scale make it approachable for players still building hand strength, while the H-S-H pickup layout gives growing musicians room to explore genres as their taste develops. The tremolo bridge adds expressive options that entry-level hardtail guitars lack.

The GIO Series — Ibanez Accessibility

The GIO series is Ibanez's entry-level line, bringing the brand's signature playability and design language to accessible price points. Sharing the RG-series scale length and neck philosophy with higher-tier Ibanez models, the GRX70QA sits within this series as a superstrat-styled option. The TKS finish (Transparent Black Sunburst) is one of four stock colorways, alongside Transparent Blue Burst, Transparent Red Burst, and standard Sunburst.
