Fishman Fluence Modern Humbucker 8 V2 — Active Multi-Voice Pickup Set for 8-String Guitars

The Fishman Fluence Modern Humbucker 8 V2 Black Plastic is an active 8-string humbucker set built around Fishman's patented Fluence Core. Each pickup delivers three selectable voices — Modern Active high-output, passive-style attack, and an ideal single-coil — switchable via push-pull pots. The set pairs an Alnico V neck with a Ceramic VIII bridge for six distinct tones from a single drop-in replacement. Active electronics eliminate the inductance and buzz of wire-wound pickups, delivering clean dynamic tone at high gain.

Three Voices Per Pickup, Patented Fluence Core

What sets this set apart is the patented Fluence Core — a stacked circuit-board design replacing traditional copper windings. This architecture lets each pickup switch between three musically complementary voicings rather than relying on coil-tap tricks. The optional rechargeable lithium-ion battery pack extends play time from hours to weeks.

Three Selectable Voices — Alnico and Ceramic

The Alnico V neck and Ceramic VIII bridge each offer three voicings tuned to different peak frequencies.

• Alnico Voice 1: 630 Hz — Modern Active high-output, full and round with boosted articulation.
• Alnico Voice 2: 550 Hz / 8 kHz — Crisp, clean, fluid neck humbucker tone.
• Ceramic Voice 1: 720 Hz — Modern Active ceramic crunch with tight bass and growl.
• For a bright, clear single-coil sound, use Ceramic Voice 3, which peaks at 4.5 kHz.

Active Circuitry — Power, Output, and Battery Life

Active electronics require power, but this model is engineered for efficiency.

• Output Impedance: 2 kΩ on both pickups — consistent signal level across voices.
• Current Draw: 2.6 mA @ 9 V (Alnico) and 2.7 mA @ 9 V (Ceramic).
• Battery: 9-Volt or optional rechargeable pack — up to 200 hours per set.

Drop-In Fitment — Pots, Wiring, and Hardware

The set ships with everything needed for installation into most humbucker-equipped 8-string guitars.

• Included Hardware: two pickups, wiring harness, push-pull pots, 25 kΩ pots — all specified for active circuitry.
• The magnetic circuit features a bar magnet with blades on both versions, ensuring consistent response across the 8-string fretboard.
